LeBron James Reveals True Feelings on Los Angeles Lakers Playoff Loss vs. Denver Nuggets
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

After reaching the Conference Finals with mostly the same roster last year, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were expected to go far in the playoffs recently. Now that the Denver Nuggets eliminated them again, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer got real and shared his thoughts on what happened.

Throughout the regular season, the Lakers have struggled to crack the Western Conference’s top half to ensure a spot in the playoffs. Fortunately, the got past the Play-In Tournament despite a monster performance by Zion Williamson in their pre-playoff showdown.

Thanks to that win, the Lakers were able to secure their playoff ticket. The thing is, they were matched up against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in rematch of last year’s Western Conference Finals. And while many expected the Purple and Gold to put up a good fight, they eventually fell in five games to the defending champions.

The elimination was a hard one for the Lakers since they constantly lost to Denver for almost two years. With that campaign ending earlier than expected, several problems arose, such as the need to find a new coach after Darvin Ham was let go and whether James stays with the team or not next season.

Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James Gets Real on Playoff Loss To Denver Nuggets

Just recently, the King shared his thoughts on Los Angeles’ last playoff run to JJ Reddick. In an episode of their Mind the Game podcast posted on YouTube:

“You know emotionally I feel like we were like right there obviously in every game to be able to steal a game but also at the same time, you know, we were and that’s why we lost the series and it hurts obviously… but I feel like a couple plays here and a couple plays there, you know, we could have won the series but the better team won, for sure. Give credit where credit is due,” James said.

It can’t be said James didn’t give it his all during the first round series against the Nuggets. In those five games, the King averaged 27.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 2.4 steals per contest.

At this point in time, James will have to choose whether to take his player option for the Lakers or not. In any case, it’s going to be a long offseason for him in the months ahead.
